Class Descriptions

Beginner Hoola Hoop Fitness : No Experience needed! Learn beginning hooping skills and get fit! Hooping is a great and fun way to tone the entire body, build core strength and improve mind body awareness. Skills will be reviewed and built upon each week. Please bring water and wear something comfortable that isn't too baggy for best hooping! There is limited space so it is first come first serve.

Belly Dance Technique and Abs : This is a great class for beginners. We will learn basic technique, shimmies begin to put moves together, and end with abdominal strengthening. Pay each class or purchase card, 10 classes for $75.

Beginner Choreography : This class is also geared towards beginners. We will learn proper technique while learning a dance also giving the brain a workout! The class runs in 6-week blocks. The next class starts Aug. 27th. Please register with Rona.

Intermediate/Advanced: This class is for individuals with some belly dance experience. It accommodates students who are a little more serious about dancing, perhaps performing and for those who just want more of a challenge. The class runs in 6-week blocks, the next class starts March 18th.Please register with Rona.

Boot Camp for Boomers: Are you wishing you were in better shape? Does going to the gym and figuring out what to do, and how to work those machines kill your motivation?? Then this class is for you. In 4 weeks you will feel the difference in how you feel and look. Class will combine some simple" exercises and most likely some running drills for extra fun. Notes: No senior waivers. Please wear running shoes and workout clothes and bring a water bottle.

Running for Beginners: This class is for those of you who have ever thought of running in a 5K, or maybe even entering a triathlon. Learn how you too can be a runner. This class will follow basic coaching principles of how to safely progress from once around the block to jogging a few miles. Instructor is certified coach with USATF and has completed marathons and ultra marathons successfully. Notes: No Senior waivers. Please wear running shoes, workout clothes and bring a water bottle.

Yoga/ Pilates mix : This class is for those who would like to look like a dancer! We will work on flexibility, core strength, posture, coordination and end with a brief meditation. Pay each class or purchase card, 10 classes for $75.

Belly Dance Tango Fusion: This class combines belly dance with a little funk and alot of spice! In 6 weeks we learn basic technique along with the latest choreography by Rona. The class will also incorporate flexibility and core strength. Please register through SFCC Community Education.

Bollywood: Bollywood is becoming more and more popular with its high energy mix of Indian folk and pop dancing of the West. I will be teaching a dance based on the movie Main Hoon Na. Zumba has transformed the way she feels about working out. She is now certified as an instructor and wants to share with others what it has done for her. Zumba has been her fun way to work hard.
